Dog grooming reminder messages you can copy
Updated 6 October 2026
Good messages are short, friendly and say exactly what’s happening. Here are wordings you can copy for the messages groomers send most, with what to change. Swap the parts in brackets for your own details.
Booking confirmation
Send this as soon as the booking is made, so the client has the time in writing.
- “Hi [name]! [Dog] is booked in for a [service] on [day and date] at [time]. See you both then. [Business]”
The reminder the day before
This is the message that stops most no-shows. Send it the day before, early enough that someone who can’t make it has time to tell you.
- “Hi [name], just a reminder that [dog] is booked in with me tomorrow at [time]. Reply if you need to change anything. [Business]”
- For mobile groomers: “…I’ll be with you between [time] and [time]. Please make sure there’s somewhere to park and [dog] has been out for a wee.”
Ready for collection
- “[Dog] is all done and ready to collect whenever you are. They were a star today! [Business]”
Time to rebook
Regulars drift when nobody reminds them. A friendly nudge around when they’d usually come in fills your diary without discounts.
- “Hi [name], it’s been about [six] weeks since [dog]’s last groom, so they’re due soon. I have space on [day] at [time] if that suits? [Business]”
- “A space has come up on [day] at [time]. [Dog] is due, would you like it?”
Asking for a review
Ask while the client is happiest: right after collection, with a direct link.
- “Thanks for bringing [dog] in today. If you were happy, a quick Google review really helps a small business like mine: [link]”
After a late cancellation or no-show
Keep it calm and refer to the policy they agreed to.
- “Hi [name], sorry we missed [dog] today. As per my cancellation policy there’s a [amount] fee for missed appointments. Would you like to rebook?”
Service messages and marketing are different
Confirmations, reminders and “ready” messages are about a booking the client made, so you can send them. Offers and newsletters are marketing: under UK rules (PECR) you need the client’s permission first, and every message should tell them how to opt out.
Questions
When should I send a grooming reminder?
The day before works for most clients. It gives them time to tell you if they can’t come, and you time to fill the slot.
Text, WhatsApp or email?
Whichever the client actually reads. Many groomers use text or WhatsApp for reminders and email for confirmations and receipts.
